[The Zwin|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zwin] is a (really) small estuary in the border between the Netherlands and Belgium.

Las year, during Sinterklass evening, a huge surge storm hit the coast with high waters levels and wave heights, overwashing and breaching some of the dunes in the Zwin. Since lidar topographic data should be available, should be possible to recreate this event with the [XBeach|http://oss.deltares.nl/web/xbeach/] model.

As a side goal, and following the open source philosophy of XBeach, I plan to work on [python|https://www.python.org/] as much as possible, and try to stop the dependency that we normally have on proprietary software, such as Matlab or the like.
