Working with Structures

  • Create a network with branches and a cross-sections on each branch.
  • Select create weir from the structure tools.
  • Click on a branch to create a weir.
  • On another branch, put two weirs on the same location to create a compound structure.
  • Select create pump from the structure tools.
  • Click on another branch to create a pump.

The structures are added to the network. Now we can adjust the settings.

  • Click on the weir.

You see the cross-sectional view of the weir with the nearest cross-section in the background. The default settings of the weir are OK.
(warning) The cross-sectional view cannot be displayed when there is no cross-section on the branch.

  • Click on the compound structure

You see the cross-sectional view of a compound structure with the nearest cross-section in the background. This compound structure consist of two weirs, but more weirs or other structures can be added. The background is colored red as a warning, because the two weirs overlap. To adjust the weirs:

  • Click on the weir in the cross-sectional view.
  • Adjust the width of one weir in 50m.
  • Click on the other weir in the cross-sectional view.
  • Adjust the offset in 250m.
  • Adjust the width in 50m.

To adjus the settings of the pump:

  • Click on the pump.
  • Deselect the control level on the delivery side.
  • Adjust the control levels on the suction side in -4m for switch-on and -5 for switch-off.

Import a network

This section describes two possibilities to import a network:

  1. From vector layers (shp, gdb): You can import vector layers to create a new netwerk.
  2. From SobekSOBEK: You can import a network you used in previous versions of SobekSOBEK.

To import a network used in a previous versions of SobekSOBEK:

  • Start with a new project.
  • Click on File.
  • Click on Import data.
  • Choose Sobek SOBEK network file.

  • Browse to Loenen.lit.
  • Select folder 1.
  • Select network.tp.
